There are Lots of hangers that live within a 5 hour drive of you. I would be interested in doing a 3 day hike and hang after the first of the year. Nov. and Dec are allready full for me.

I'm ALWAYS looking for hiking partners!

Plan it! I actually think a well planned Arkansas hang ought to draw quite a few members from the mid-south region.

Just a thought... if we did some sort of cold-weather hang, I would hate for you to be trying your hammock out for the first time. Our winters aren't that bad, but it does get into the 30s frequently in the ozarks. That's a bad time to discover that you're not warm enough.

Great photos and information about your trip. I sure would like to see a fall hang in your area. I have attended the two northern hangs and had a great time. A fall hang in your area would be great color, great hiking temperatures, few insects etc. I would come if at all possible.

Yes, I used Tim Ernst' waterfalls book to find these. I also have his trail guide for the buffalo river area, and both are excellent books written by a guy who lives up here and does a lot to protect and preserve the resources we have set aside for camping/hiking/hunting, etc.

As far as a fall hang for the colors, last weekend and this weekend are the peak of colors around here. If we were to do a hang later this year or early next, there's not going to be much to see except beech trees. A lot of these places are just as cool in the winter though. If we could get the turnout for a winter hang it would be awesome.

East stingray, thanks for your concern....did I mention that Okie women are tuff? Seriously, I played in my front yard yesterday in this dad-blamed windy rainy -assed Oklahoma weather, and have the basics to keep warm(I think) until I can aquire all those glorious down filled accessories for my HHULB. My system is heavy,(sleeping bag, thermarest pad, etc) so if needed, I could be the shuttle for you members that would hike. I do have the Buffalo River book by Tim Ernst, and I've dug out my "wandering shoes" out of my closet. This time last year, I would have never dreamed that I would own a hammock, but you guys and gals are contagious!!!!!
