    HellO from Greenville SC

Greetings All! I have been spending nights in the woods since I was a child, but it was only about 4 years ago when I made the move from tent to hammock. It may just be the best decision I have ever made. We'll... let's call it one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would not want to offend my lovely bride if she just so happens to read this one day. Anyways, what started as a lightweight alternative to a tent has pretty much become the only way I choose to sleep in the woods. And what a good sleep at that!! I figure with so much to learn and absorb when it comes to the hang, what better way to do it than by joining this community. I look forward to meeting some new folks and learning some new things.
See you along the trail and Stay dirty!
    Cheers!

Did you graduate from FU in '06?

Also, welcome from Irmo. We've got an active group here in SC and you're welcome to join us in September for Fall Sprawl!

Hey! I'm in Greenville too, longtime HF lurker but since I'm gearing up for an AT thru-hike attempt in the spring I decided it was time to join in the discussions.

Gresh, when is the Fall sprawl?
    ----
Ninja Edit: I just learned where the calendar is.
Is it much of a hike? Or a social campground experience?

Gresh, Thanks for the welcome! I am an 06 Furman Alum. If I available on the days in September when you guys do the Fall Sprawl I just may join. Where can we find the details? Irmo, I have family that lives there and spent many a Thanksgiving at their house off of Harbison Blvd.

Azrial, Thanks for the welcome and awesome to hear about your upcoming through hike. I just began my section hike of the AT last month. Started at Amicola State Park and jumped off the trail at Neels Gap. The approach trail was a beast but I loved every step. I can only imagine how awesome it will be to experience the trail as a thru hiker! Enjoy my friend.

    Hi and welcome from Greenwood!
Fall Sprawl is September 24-27 at Santee State Park. We have reserved the entire primitive section which is right on the lake. The parking is adjacent to the sites. It is a total social experience, however there are trails and the lake if you want to get away to the quiet Piney woods. :-) We have several cottage gear vendors who will be attending and bringing gear to demo. I have a friend who is returning to thru hike the AT next year who will be attending, also. That is a big dream of mine!
We have tons more things going on, too. Here is the planning link.

Be sure to sign up on the spreadsheet so we can have a fairly accurate number for planning. Hope y'all can make it!

My wife graduated in '07 and I spent A LOT of time on campus back then when we were dating. If you been down here and I been up there, we might already know one another.

Looks like Dawn got you covered on the info for FS, but there's always up to date information in our Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/palmettostatehangers
