Mountain Wilderness Gear 12 ft silpoly Storm Fly

    Hey guys and gals,
I would like thank everyone who posts on this forum. I have learned a great deal since becoming a member here. I would like thank Charlie for making me a great tarp and a bug net too, with another coming soon.

This tarp is really good. Granted, this is my first hammock tarp, my first silpoly tarp also. I've never dealt with silnylon myself although I have a buddy who has one and I like the silpoly better. I would probably not sell a good silnylon just to buy silpoly but when buying I would silpoly over silnylon any day.

Seams came sealed on this with a nice stuff stuff sack. I put Mountain Goat skins on the tarp and it still fits in the stuff sack.

I have weather two storms under the tarp so far and all was good. One with pounding rain and wind.

Here's the pics. First setup in the yard. Home made pole mod.

Did you use shock cord on the doors? And what poles and length? I also have this tarp and wow very impressed.

Yes shock cord and nite ize sbiners. Poles were scavenged from a buddies garbage can during a move from KY to OR. I cut them to 54". Have since replaced ugly knoted cord on tie outs with zing it dog bones for a cleaner look.

I love mine! Charlie is good people for sure. We've been going back and forth on new project. I'm super excited to see what he does with it.

Yes stock ends. Poles used to be part of a hub style tent of some sort. I just hacked and cut till i had what worked. Sadly they only break down into two pieces and i couldnt get shock cord back through them. But not to bad for poor hillbilly lol.

I like the pole mods. I usually use mine in porch mode, so I have plenty of room. This would be nice for rough weather, when you have to close it down.
