    Time for a change

I have been reading a considerable amount on hammocks. I currently own 2 Hennessy Hammock Expedition Asym Hammocks. (they came as a pair on Ebay). One of the places I have learned a great deal about Hammocks is this website and the other is YouTube. Shugs videos are educational and entertaining (thanks on both accounts) and Sintax77 has also taught me a considerable amount on solo hammock camping. I love the idea of getting a Warbonnet Blackbird Double Layer. The system is very appealing to me, especially the shelf aspect. I am wondering about the difference between the 1.1 vs the 1.7 Im not certain what this means...I could not find any information about it on the Warbonnet webpage and although I may look stupid here, I would rather learn from hangers than the company, since I am bound to get more information than I asked for . Thanks hangers.

Warbonnet makes some great stuff. The 1.1 and 1.7 refer to the thickness of the material. Generally, heavier people gravitate toward the thicker cloth, which may stretch less and better support a heavier hammocker (but obviously weighs more).

You might want to look over some threads in the Warbonnet area (listed alphabetically among the vender-specific forums), where people who use Warbonnet's gear tend to hang out. Two other options to consider are their XLC, a more recent evolution of the Blackbird design (slightly longer than the BB), or the Ridgerunner hammock (a bridge hammock design).

1.1 or 1.9 ounces per square yard of fabric. If you are opting for a double layer, the 1.1 probably will be plenty strong for most hangers. Check the suggested maximum weights supported comfortably listed and select the lightest option that fits you (assuming you are carrying the hammock to camp)

I have both the warbonnet double layer xlc and the Hennessy deluxe and the big difference is when using a pad for insulation the double allows for the pad to go in between the layers and does does not move around. Both are good hammock but I would lean towards the xlc double, gives you more options

Canoefor2 - your response is exactly why I was thinking of getting the Warbonnet, for more winter type weather

If winter is part of the plan, another aspect of the XLC that might appeal to you is the optional top cover. Nice that it's 11' also.
