This weekend on my campout, I had FOUR lights in my hammock with me - Black Diamond headlamp looped around the ridgeline, and a ridgeline pocket with a Fenix TK20, Fenix L0D, and an Olight T10. Sometimes, you just want the secure feeling of 190 lumens in your pocket

Oh, and the thermometer on my ridgeline has a built in LED light, so I guess that makes it five.

I also had two large fixed blade knives directly below me in an outside pocket of my pack. And I was in a very safe campground. I sometimes claim these things are for security, but it's mainly just because I love toys

I've gone so far as to sleep with it on before. Granted that's reserved for areas that bears are a nightly visitors. *cough* Elkmont Area *cough*

    Camper's motto

My motto is: If you absolutely positively have to have it in the morning, bring it inside.

I don't ever want to have to walk out naked and barefoot, other than that, it varies.

By the way, except in very cold or very windy weather, I always tie my tarp out to my hiking poles and then to stakes in the ground. It gives me a better view and more walking around room under the tarp. From what people seem to be saying and from the pictures, this practice doesn't appear to be as common as I thought it would be.

That's what I do, Jack. I like being able to see my surroundings.

I do the same unless the weather is going to turn wet/cold/windy. Then I stake the tarp as low as possible to keep out the elements.

I think most people do it regularly. It is curious why there aren't more pics of that style set-up, but if you go to a 'hang' most are set-up with a porch at least until bedtime.

    the poles

    Hey Beep,

Those look like GG poles. I attached straps on my wife's poles at her behest. I used nylon cable ties. What did you use?

Pack on ridgeline at head, everything not in use is inside, pockets open.
Trekking poles in easy reach, boots upside down on poles (Or camp shoes on poles, boots from foot end ridge) The only thing on the ground: tent stakes & pole tips.
Sometimes I hang my food like you are "supposed to". But almost never.

Cannibal, I don't think I explained it well. I have a Proton 2 type light on my ridgeline ALL THE TIME. I fold the hammock up with it in there so It is always there.
