This past 5th Annual Florida Hang, I got an average of 3.25 hours of sleep over 4 nights due to a little bit of work at the hang. No way I could even have thought about it without my hammock. I was tired, but able to keep going because that good of a sleep for me.

Handy Hammock has made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. No trees there and a lot of rocks.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

We've actually opted for our hammocks while helping host a big bbq at the inlaws place. Instead of getting up every few hours with the smoker, we hung by it! Worked better for us anyways bc the guest bedrooms in the house were full anyways.

Did get some questions as to why he was sleeping in his moms back yard. Lol

I've done similar with my tent before I was into hammocks. Had a bunch of us staying at a friends place and I used my tent rather than trying to squeeze in somewhere inside the house - with a good insulated inflatable mat and down sleeping bag I was as warm and comfortable as I would have been in the house.
Now that I'm getting into hammocks I would be warmer and MORE comfortable in a hammock outside than in a bed in the house!

I don't think the non-hangers realise just how much more comfortable sleeping in a hammock is compared to having to sleep on a mattress in the lounge (due to the spare bedrooms being full) or even in a bed if one is available.
I tested my gear in the back yard for my camping trip next weekend - returning to my bed the following night was a step down IMO.

Agreed! My husband operates heavy machinery on digging sites and when he comes home sore, we ditch the bed for our hammocks under the carport.

The world is full of fallacies and we all get mis-directed. My kid bought a house in the woods and I went there to help fix it up. Told him I would hang my hammock outside, thank you very much. He thought (at first) I was being kind, since they still didn't have furniture there. After I set up the hammock with UQ and TQ, he tried it out. I think is words were, "Hey, this is pretty comfortable. I get it." Two points for the old man. Slept solidly for three nights, while the insiders scrounged for comfort. Plus, outside, you can pour yourself a late night tipel without anyone looking down-there-nose at you...

I am glad that you shared that experience with me. I was thinking of getting a tent for the stormy nights with my dog but now I remember the back cramps that come with the ground. Lol

PreciousPixie lol that was our exact thinking. Woke up really hurting and the poor doggies were more jumpy and nervous in the tent after having only hammock camped.

Recently got back from Mexico. Spent two weeks in a lovely (white cotton) Oaxacan hammock ($35) on the front porch. The first night in a bed without my usual 4" memory foam mattress topper was torture.

I do this for Thanksgiving while smoking a turkey for 12 hours. The problem is I keep missing my wake up time to add wet wood chips. A few years ago, it hit upper 30's. Woke up to a very great crisp day with smoked turkey waffing thru the air.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
