I listen to my single ever present one note tribute to zep, black sabbath, hendrix, and all the rest. Tinnitis, the song that remains the same...
I'd be afraid to try. I might set up some sort of feedback and have my head explode...
I'm up in Stillwater - I drive near your area often heading to and from Afton
Most of the time I listen to nature itself, there are sometimes I listen to music and when I do it's usually a lot by the panio guys, nice easy relaxing music piano/cello mixed together love it
String Cheese is nice for camping but last time out and usually, I hear Scouts. Excited Scouts, arguing Scouts, homesick Scouts.
some country music eric church, george straight ect. , classical mostly lotr/hobbit sound tracks or classical remakes of newer songs, or electronic(dance / dubstep).
i seem to be the odd man out here lol.
but this is only if i listen to music at all, usually sitting quietly drinking some brew waiting on one of my fishing rod bells to ding.
I enjoy the sounds of the woods too. Especially if I can set up along a creek. However It can take me a while to fall asleep so I will watch 20-30 minutes of a relaxing movie, read a little and yes listen to music.
I found that I really like something mellow and rhythmic.
Hang playing has become a favorite
One of my favorites,
I have also gotten into Jose Gonzales, He had some great music in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"

If and only IF I bring my MP3 with me, I'll listen to Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Anasazi flute, something along those lines. Soothing stuff to close out the evening to, before putting in the earplugs. All that cricket, cicada, tree frog, and coyote is great, but not all night. And although I love the sound of rain on my tarp, it makes me nervous to go to sleep to since I start to worry about my seam sealing failing, or my drip lines not working properly or the wind starts to blow the rain under the porch, etc. That does not make for a peaceful nights sleep. And like a couple of others here I also suffer from tinnitus, so I get those "sounds" as well.
Remember...no matter where you go...there you are.
