I just take an end and start shoving it in. I don't ever recall a tarp bubble. Oh, and I don't like stuff sacks that you can barely get the tarp into as those end up compressed and hard like a rock. I like a larger stuff sack that allows it to be squishy, so I can shove it into any space or crevice.

I'll third the observation that I don't roll my tarp, and I've never had a bubble either. I just gather the tie down and pull out lines so they go into the snake skins first, then pull the snake skins so they overlap a little in the middle, and it's all good.

Although, I have started to roll the corners with my guy lines just to keep them from tangling- still no bubble though. I think a single tube mesh snake skin eliminates the problem.

    My easy instructions.

1 Roll up one side of the tarp
2 Before pulling on the snake skin, put your hand around the tarp near the middle of the rolled up section and push the air toward the end of the tarp.
    3 Pull snakeskin on
    4 Repeat with other side
