    RBTR Hex12 Kit

    Good morning y'all

I recently bought the two tarp kits from Ripstop by the Roll. The standard 12 foot Hexagonal, and the 12' Winter tarp. I am about half way through the hex and wonderded if anyone has a "tried and true" method of doing the reinforcements at the corners. There are a couple of different ideas in the intructuons, but still would like to see if anyone has really nailed it.
Also, is there any reason to seal anything other than the ridgeline seam?

I just sewed around the perimeter before rolling the tarp hem and put some parallel lines across the triangle. I assume that rolling up the edges of the triangle in the hem adds some strength along those lines, and the parallel lines of stitching spread some force between the hems. I put mine on the inside for aesthetic reasons, but I've seen it both ways. It's the first tarp I've made, so not much experience, but dry so far.

Yeah, it seems like if I put them inside, it would allow the water to roll off easier in the corners. I did, by anxious mistake, hem the tarp edge before putting in the reinforcements...live and learn. Did you put seam-seal in the corners?

Thanks for asking the questions I have considered but not had the time to ask. I have been considering how I am going to sew the side pulls and although I think I know how I want to sew the others, I am still leaving it until I start sewing.

I can't see why I would seam seal the bottom tarp loops. I have seen many people completely overdue a few things. Too much stitching and way to much seam seal.

Totally..I understand that you dont want any strong wind to pull aprt your tie-outs, but the flip side is : to many lines of thread and youve just made an "easy tear" perforation in your nylon...
Im thinking of sewing my grosgrain to my reinforcemnt patch, them sewing the assembly to the tarp. Less holes in the tarp. And I've also decided not to seal those low corners.

I did not seam seal the corners and have had no issues as yet.
