This was my first diy. I have since made 2 custom fit nets using this design with no seeum from RSBTR. ALSO added tabs on the ends for shock cord loops that go around the gathered end "knot", no cord tying needed now and no risk of tear outs due to the net sliding down. Welcome to the diy madness! It's a fun crowd :-)
Looks great.
Do you think this can be modified to have one end open so it can be moved over to the side?
Not sure how you would keep it closed... I want to make one for my daughter that can be moved to the side when she doesn't want it and maybe stuffed into a bag.
What do you think?

Just did this mod a few weeks back with .5 nanoseeum

Short video on stowing also...there is a really short thread here on hammock forums I posted also...
Look for Derek Hansen's instructions on a HUG bug net. I made one using one sheer panel from Walmart and it works great. You can slide it back when not using it or completely remove it if not needed.
I found the instructions for you (still had them on my computer), see below.

I did see these videos from another thread or maybe when I was trolling YouTube. I like it. Is there some shock cord at the head/lower (bottom) that keeps it from pulling up when you get in?
I might follow something like this but for her (them) I will need it to close up all the way. You know, bugs and all...
Thanks for the instructions.
I like the simplicity of this but again, for the daughter's or the wife it will need to be a complete bug net so they feel better about bugs not getting to them when/if they decide to give sleeping in it a shot.
The one i made has a shock cord around the bottom that pulls tight and totally encloses the hammock off from bugs. When I get in everything tightens up and seals the hammock off. I've used it multiple times with really good results.
The forum thread link is below. It has a little more info on it.

That is exactly what I do. I use a doubled over bishop bag, half of the bag inside the bunched and rolled up net and half outside. The inside channel allows me to easily put it on and remove from the suspension line entirely without damaging the net.

Most of the reactions when I brought it up where that people tend to keep their bugnet on all the time and stow together with the hammock. I too prefer to let the top down on the convertible when the bugs aren't out.
