And you can choose to allow comments to each of those groups or give permission to nobody. So you can just blab, blab, blab. Or your can allow those comments but require all comments be moderated and approved first if you choose.

See above. You need to go in privacy and click the boxes of who can comment.

    What you talking about, Willis?

I never should have clicked on "moderate comments." Probably takes a mod to approve deletion of that ability.

It is nice to see HF trying out something new.
I do hope that those who choose to use the blogs continue to post their hammock related stuff to the forums and not just to their personal blogs. I would hate to see good discussions lost in the blogs. I don't see being able to follow many blogs on a regular basis (already spend too much time on HF as it is.)
I wonder how many blogs the average HF'er will actually visit.
I can see visiting one every now and then to see a little bit more about an individual, the same way I might click on a blog link in someone's signature, but not on a regular basis.
I hope this doesn't fragment or make HF's wealth of information even more difficult to access or search.
I'm interested to see what people put out there.

I still don't see the point. Bored after five minutes, and will stay bored.

The blogs might be a great place for the equipment manufacturers to post equipment specific "how-tos"

This will inevitably be the result if the blog feature is used to any extent.

i don't think it will replace the forums and many people who use this type of feature find it to be a nice suppliment to the forums. for those interested, blogs can be a nice way to add to the already vast knowledge base of HF. Not everyone will use it or be interested in it, but I personally like it and will be adding to mine soon.

Thank you admins for adding this feature. i like seeing what other members feel is share worthy. sometimes, in the forums, a member may answer a question in a way that makes me more interested in more about them, their experience, and knowlege. A blog is a good way for members to share that in a personal way. IMHO, this adds to the forum, not takes away. yes, there will be some people that mostly hang out in blog land, but that is not neccessarily a negative and from my own experience, only a small percentage.

a blog is not intended to answer questions or get help like the forums, so the people that like doing that will still visit the forums and the people who need help will still need to post on the forums.

blogs are great for those that like to document and share and they're also great for people who like to look a little deeper in to other members' knowledge

Please keep in mind. This is a trial period only!!! If it does not get enough use, gets the wrong (non hammock) related use, or requires a lot of moderation it most likely won't make the grade and be turned back off. Hopefully that is not the case and lots of people will use it for it's intended purpose of further hammock usage.
