    Best UQ for a noob

I started hammock camping about a two months ago it's getting into fall/winter and I need an UQ. I was looking at the KAQ Jarbridge River and the Enlightened Equipment Prospect. Are there any other good 3 season UQ made for gathered end hammocks for around the same prices?

I think it will be a win with any vendor on here. Just decide if you want down or synthetic, full UQ or a Partial UQ.
    Carry forth.

There are so many available these days...I went with a full length from Hammock Gear and am very happy. I probably only needed a 40 degree quilt but am getting into fall/spring hanging so I went with a 20 degree. I do recommend you save your pennies and buy the best you can afford to avoid buying again in a few years. Enjoy!

I started out hammocking with a 0* synthetic bag and a ccf pad, which I used for two years. I did not feel that I could take that system lower than 20 degrees F, due mainly to the amounts of condensation I experienced with the pad. After that I bought an HG 20* Burrow and 20* Phoenix with 2 oz. overstuff. That lasted me two years, but I sold it and replaced with hydrophobic down (no overstuff). Since then, I've also bought HG 40* and 0* quilt sets (no overstuff). They're all made with hydrophobic down, and I never have condensation.

I would imagine a 20* quilt set would be good for most of the weather that South Carolina can throw at you. While a 20* quilt set might seem a bit warm, you'll appreciate it in the winter months.

Good question, is a partial good enough for 4-season, or is a full-length recommended?

I think that is more of a personal preference question. Some go with a partial and use a small foam pad under the legs, I prefer a full length quilt myself.
I've read that some guys like to take a sit pad anyway so they use that under their legs and can then buy a cheaper partial quilt that packs smaller & lighter.
I'm happy with how small & light my Incubator 20 is and which how warm I am while using it from my head to my toes.

I purchased a 3/4 length UQ from Hammock gear and I am very happy with it. I am short 5'3 so only my ankles stick out. I think that it is a personal preference. I carry a small sit pad anyway so I use it under my feet if I need it. What ever you get make it a good quality buy. If you are like the rest of us you will want something else and wish to upgrade and resale what you have. I good quality quilt resales better then a quick cheap buy.

If you camp in the winter, I'd recommend a full. I tried both, but having my feet covered by down on both sides is great!

Especially on stupid-cold nights when you wake up to something like this

Thanks KiwiMark, I was chatting with a friend at work and he recommended a full as well, even. In warmer weather he just loosens it to allow some more airflow.
