My wife and I are heading to the the Vail area for two weeks in September to attend a wedding and was wondering if there is a trail that we need to do. We are open to doing an over night as well or just some good day hikes.

Sorry not hiking to Colorado but in Colorado
Ok, I'll throw out an idea for a day hike...drive an hour west of Vail to the hanging lake trail head. Bring some snacks and plenty of water and hike up (and I mean up) about an hour or so to the lake. Chill out for a bit and enjoy the scenery and then before heading back down, go up just a little bit further and check out spouting rock. Guaranteed worth it!
edit-you could even get a room in Glenwood Springs (a little further west) and try out the hot springs. The Hotel Colorado has a lot of history and is within walking distance.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. Hang your own hammock from them as the winds blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. - John Muir (you know, all but the hammock part)
Thanks I am putting it on the list.
