Cool design! Question - any reason you didn't use the 1 3/8 Open L? Seems like that's what you made from the T's?

Can't take any credit for the design...just all stolen bits of ideas from all the other good stuff on here!
The fittings...yes, there is a very good reason. Because I didn't see it right there on that page in front of my big dumb face! Haha. Yes, that would be the perfect fitting indeed! Can't see how I missed that. I guess I was in a hurry to order and get my stand going. BTW, tarps.com shipped really fast! I ordered fittings for my stand one for a friend and the shipping cost got cut down quite a bit. But even with shipping, still not a bad price for those.
Sounds familiar... One more question - do you worry at all about cast the ends of the caps breaking? I have some of those caps and they appear to be cheap cast metal (i.e. not very strong). I wonder if a bolt through the ridge line pole might be a better solution.
Thanks again!
Nice looking stand. It's only been like three weeks sense I made my conduit turtledog stand and I have seen two or three other stands pop up. I like this one and that adjustable chain setup is a great idea.
Might have to make one of these too.
Thanks for posting it up.
You're welcome. Glad to share.
And yes, chain and S hooks are the adjustable knot for guys who don't know how to tie knots! I am also a big fan of figure 9s and the overuse of carabiners.
Nice setup.....I was hoping to have a friend of mine weld up some "L" fittings like these to use with my surplus camo netting poles. For the price though I can't touch this setup. I made some similar brackets of Sch80 pvc but there's quite a bit of slop (I needed Sch120 but couldn't find it locally). I think what I have will work but I'll likely build a similar stand for camping later this fall.
Nice writeup.....
Thanks!
Yep, I was pretty impressed with those fittings for 5.50 a piece. Definitely a nice time saver.
Now the next piece will be some way to hang my iPad horizontally and relax with some Netflix in the hammock next to the fireplace.
I like it a lot!! I would probably make some mini adjustable ridgelines for the legs just cause i like making stuff out of amsteel!!
