Breakfast and dinners are group meals. As long as you are not opposed to what's being cooked you are welcome to eat what is prepared. Most folks can get by with just bringing some between meal snacks.

Food isn't really a concern if you are not part of the cooking crew. No one will starve. Servings are generous and we often offer seconds once everyone has eaten. Hope that helps!

If you're an excellent chef who wants to share, I'm sorry but the question still isn't answered. What is the deal if you want to share? I have a giant dutch oven and another smaller one. Its not a tough question......

There is a centralized kitchen area, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Cooking is done outside near the fire ring, but if you prefer to cook at your site that is fine. Meals are served in the lodge and anyone who prepares anything is welcome to bring it there to share. The prepared meals are intended to provide servings for everyone so we don't expect folks who bring something to share to make quite those amounts. There are always add on things though that folks bring to offer at meals.

In short, if you want to cook something, do that.

Breakfasts and Dinners are provided for everyone at the hang. Yep, that's right, all 250 people are served breakfast and dinner every day. Thank you Gumbo and crew! This is paid for by donations and raffle ticket sales. You are responsible for your own snacks and lunches. If you have food to share, great! If not, no problem. If this is not clear you probably need to attend the first year to see it for yourself. Or you could PM Gumbo with your questions.

    Looking forward to seeing everyone!

For the new ones. There is no cooking inside the lodge. Coffee will be brewed and served inside the lodge. Food is prepped in the lodge kitchen, then taken outside to be cooked on propane or charcoal. Then we bring it back in and set it up for a serving line. There are planned meals for breakfast and dinner to cover the entree's, some sides and desserts. We know we have to feed close to 300 people, and Gumbo has a great kitchen crew, but she rarely turns down help. The lodge kitchen is large, and there is an ice machine just outside the door. Any one who wants to make a dish to contribute is welcome. No you don't have to prepare enough for 300 people. Only as much as you would like to contribute. Let Hotlips know if you need a charcoal table to cook on, or a propane burner, she will try to help you out there. In the lodge kitchen are large industrial sinks for washing up the pots and dishes. We love to see volunteers for dishes. If you volunteer just once, we should have enough folks to wash, rinse and dry. We do not have any tupperware to store leftovers, so we expect ya'll to eat everything. Just understand with this many people it can take us a bit to get it all ready.
If you don't like my cooking there's always MRE's.***Hotlips
