I too slept in a tent recently!
    Actually it was pretty comfortable:

I need to get a good tarp setup though, that tent is really bulky and heavy, it is however big enough to cover my handyhammock stand.

I still use tents occasionally. High above the tree line it's either that or bringing poles, and considering I already carry ~25kg I just take the tent. But then it's not to do anything more than getting a nap (I wouldn't call it sleep).

Sometimes it depends on where you're camping. While hiking in northern Vermont during my E2E, the trees were so small in diameter, and dense, it was difficult to find a place to hang. For that matter hard to find a tent space either. I ended up staying in the shelters most of the time.

I like the idea of a hammock within the tent. I might have to look into making myself a stand! Would also be nice for my backyard with no trees

MAn the Vertex looks so cool! I feel like it'd be kind of limiting to have to find three perfect trees though. I know they dont have to be perfect, but still. Dont get me wrong, I definitely still want one! XD

Definitely nice to ground dwell every once in a while, reminds us why we like life in the trees like the **** dirty apes we are!

On the rivers we camp, you'd need a 12" foam pad to lay on them rocks,,

I went and hung my hammock while the rest of the fam slept in the tent trailer.

That said I don't find hammock sleeping as comfortable as a side sleeper than many seem to

I have the opposite problem, trying to convince my husband to hang

Sorry you had to go to ground... I've done it too, though, to be next to my sweetheart. She hadn't camped much at all so was somewhat nervous anyway, much less in hammocks. So I schemed up a plan to do at home. On a beautiful summer day with a forecast beautiful night, while she was gone for the day, I set up a conventional 2 tree hammock and then my Turtledog stand beside that, covering both with 2 SFs overlapped, something I've been playing with to use with my kids. When she got home I showed her the set up and suggested we sleep in the hammocks that night, with the freedom to bail indoors for whatever reason, no harm no foul. Course, I also greased the skids with one of her favorite dinners ready to go, a bottle of her favorite wine and a fire ready to light after dinner, to sit around as we finish off the wine. She loves that.

Of course it worked. We hit the hammocks when the fire was embers. She was asleep in minutes and I don't think she twitched till morning. She said she slept great. Now, she hasn't gone camping with me yet, but I'm scheming...
