I would make a different tarp.... 11.5' x 58" one side (no doors) and 84" on the other side with doors on both ends. So... 2 doors on one side vs 2 doors on one end. I prefer to set up in porch mode 90% of the time so this gives me extreme coverage on one side and porch coverage on the other.

    Materials
    14 yds coyote xenon
    1/2 yd coyote 300D
    10 - 1/2" beastee dees (6 for ridge/tie-outs and 4 for inside pole mod)
    2 - line loc 3s for doors
3' - shock cord for doors
4' mule tape(if this will work for tie-outs)
    Coyote thread 672
25' lash-it, 1 Dutch hook, and 1 stingerz for CRL
    1 tube silnet

I’m warming to the idea of one closable side on a tarp and one removable for weight savings. I’d like to do a tarp with a fixed set of doors, 1 pullout per side, and a removable set of doors (ala Grizz Beaks) on the other side. I also would like to make a set of tarp sleeves for the tarp and a stuff sack for the beak (if I have enough scrap).

    Materials List -

12 yds - Moss Green Xenon Sil (9 for tarp, 3 for end beak)
    Moss Green Gutterman thread
    ½ yd - Coyote 300D reinforcement
    3 ft - Omnitape
1 - tarp door hook (for top line connector)
    13 - Beastee Dees
    2 - Fleaz
    2 -Dutch Hooks
    25 ft - Black Dyneema 1.75
    10 -Tarp worms (6 x tarp, 4 x end beak)
    6 ft - grosgrain
    6 ft - 3/32 shock cord
    1 tube – Silnet
    2 yd – Nano Noseeum
    4 – C3PO locks (2 x tarp sleeves, 2 x stuff sacks)
75 ft – Black Glowire or tracer Lash-it (if it exists by then)
4 – UL Ti Ascent Stakes
    4 – Ti Nail Stakes

Thank you so much for your generosity and desire to motivate people to try to DIY and think up different approaches to do things.
    Good luck everyone!

Talking This is going to get a little crazy...

This is a fantastic give away! I would want to build an 11.5ft tarp with one door on each end, on opposite sides. That way, if I hit an unexpected storm, I can close all the way down, even though there wouldn't be much room. I would then make a set of snap on doors that I could add when I knew things were going to get stormy or cold. I would place an elastic and toggle on each of the four ends of the panels so that I could easily roll up and stow the door out of the way when I didn't need it. I would also make it easy to attach my silny rain kilt to the end to make a complete set of doors on trips when I don’t take the dedicated doors. I would use 4 panel pull outs on it to be used with the tarp pole mod, or be able to tie out the panels to trees/stakes, or use my trekking poles, etc. On the underside of the ridge line, I would place several mitten hooks to clip up a set of party lights. Woo! Party! I would also stitch in a small pocket made of Xenon Sil that I could slip the battery pack for the lights into. Closed using omni tape so I don’t snag my bug net on regular Velcro. On the underside of the panel pulls, i would make some small loops so that I could string up some line and have a clothes line under the tarp, and not directly above the hammock, so I don't have to smell my stinky wet socks all night . I would also use the scrap pieces to make small pockets at each tie out to store the guy lines. I think I would have enough Xenon left over to piece together some snake skins too.

    10 yards black Xenon Sil
    ½ yard charcoal 300D reinforcement
    Black Mara 30 thread
    8 beastee dee rings
    2 titanium dee rings (RL)
3 feet of black ½” grosgrain
6 door hooks (1 each on permanent doors, 2 each on snap on doors)
    25ft of 1/8th shock cord
    1 tarp pole mod
8 mitten hooks (for lights and clotheslines)
    2 feet of omni tape
CRL w/yellow soft shackles on grey Lash-It
50ft Black 1.75 Dyneema (for all tie outs and clotheslines)[sub dyneema line w/tracer if it exists]
12 Grey soft shackles (One for each tie out, one for each door, one for each panel pullout)
8 titanium Ultralight Ascent stakes (for full blown storm mode in winter)
1 tube silnet (for not sleeping in a puddle)

Dang…if I don’t win, I will probably just end up buying this stuff anyways. This is sound too good not to build.

    Dutch, you're the coolest.

    Hey, Dutch!

This is an awesome DIY opportunity to feature your new "Dutchware Exclusive", thank you for once again giving back to the hammock community!

My proposed concept is to create the “The Purple People Eater” for my son.
11.5’ Ridgeline, Rectangular style Tarp, w/”Beast” Porch Extension (Total of 12 tieouts & 4 pullouts)

    Material List:
12 yards of Purple Xenon Sil* (two sides and detachable “Beast” porch mode extension)
½ yard of Black 300D reinforcement material
Argon 90 Yellow 417 Gutterman Thread
16 feet of black grosgrain (Ridgeline and tieouts)
1 tube Sil Net Silicone Seam Sealer
    10 Tarpworms with shock cord
    8 Beastee Dee rings
120’ Zing It for DIY CRL, all tieouts and soft shackles
    1 Wasp
    2 Dutch hooks
25’ shock cord (“cross bars” to hold up center when extension added for “beast” porch mode)
11.5’ water resistant zipper (I’d source form somewhere, any suggestions?)

    * Chase wants a purple tarp with “party lights and glow sticks” so Alana can find him easier and have a place to hang out if it rains, lol!

Look forward to seeing you and the family at MAHHA!

    MyDutchBlingTarp

Just getting into hammocks and hoping to do a camp out sometime but missing the final piece of the puzzle… the tarp. This would be my first real DIY project so I might order just a wee bit of extra fabric to practice on(two sided stuff sacs making mania I’m thinking) before jumping on the tarp. Might also use the Xenon Sil doubled up to reinforce tie outs(that’s possible right?). Hoping some folks here will be able to help a gal out with some sewing input as I go. Always a possiblity I have not factored in something. I’m aiming to fit two hammocks underneath using the double hammock whoopie hooks. My boyfriend seems to be enjoying my entry into hammocks and willing to play along so I might as well keep it cozy

    Details details details…
I’d like to re-create a black cat tarp with 12’ ridgeline/fronkey hammock tarp, nothing fancy, but… make it two toned(dark olive & moss green) with a red highlight colour. It would be nice to have the option to pull either end partially closed but easy to disconnect with a pair of tarp door hooks’n a pair of hook worms. The beastee dee rings for porche mode setup on either side cuz the view is always on the other side if you can only pick one side to do porch mode. The tarp pull outs will be dandy in case we need a little extra wiggle room or an adjustment here or there.

    DutchBlingTarp.jpg

    TARP FABRIC:
5 yards Xenon Sil Dark Olive
5 yards Xenon Sil Moss Green

    MATERIALS:
    Gutterman thread Olive Brown 676
2 yards of 1 inch Red Grossgrain (for tie outs)
2 yard of 1 inch Black Grossgrain (for tie outs too)
25’ lawson reflective line(Black) (going to tie bits of this to the red zing it for reflective powers at night - reducing the chance of the trip’n pee
1 x Clip on tarp pull outs (Pair) (will use some of the shock cord for quick disconnect)
3 x 25' Red Zing It (10 pull out points)
1 x Sil Net Silicone Seam Sealer

    BLING:
2 x Titanium D rings (make fancy ends)
2 x Tarp Door Hooks (white) (front pull down)
2 x Hook Worms (back pull down)
4 x Beastee Dee Rings (porch mode both sides)
1 x Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks (Pair) (for the double hammock hang)
1 x Stingerz (Single) (guyline simplicity to the tree - plus it just looks awesome)
1 x Titanium Dutch Hooks (Single) (guyline simplicity to the tree other side - well it’d be nice to try)

    EXTRAS:
1 x Splicing Needle #16 (the wee one. I might try the madness of splicing the red zing it)

This is looking like a pretty blinged out tarp. Aiming for easy of setup. A girl can dream…

PS.. Thanks Dutch for this kind giveaway.

    Ok here it goes.

How about a scout tarp. 12' rl with doors on both sides, side pull outs AND A INTERIER WALL FOR DOUBLE HAMMOCK PRIVACY.

    Material:
    One continuous rl
    14 tarpworms
    1 lawsons reflective cord
    14 beastee d rings.
14 yards of dark olive xenon sil
    Woodland green 555 thread
    6 yards gross grain black
    4 yards no seeum mess
    2 yards 300d
    10 y stakes

Gonna double chedk this tomorrow at my computer. So I will of course be making this for some of my scouts. I would make the curtain detachable or able to roll it up to secure at the top. This would be for the 3 tree set up.
