    Conduit Hammock Stand

I posted photos of my Conduit Hammock Stand in my profile.

It was designed to take up minimal space when disassembled and support my weight.

Just looking for feedback at the moment.

I'll try to post some additional How To instructions next weekend.

Looks lightweight compared to some of the lumber stands... How are the conduits connected at the bottom "v"? Could the 10' sections be made to disassemble?

    Nice different design!

For car/boat camping just in case no trees, nice design. Incorporate some push-pin fittings for an adjustable height tarp connection. Down low when conditions are less than ideal. Up high for head room creating a day shelter.

Parts list and design plan possible?

    I like that.

Is there something in the V join that helps resist the force that brings the ends together under load? It seems the base stake in the up-rights would help.

But still it seems there'll be a lot of force on the stakes, and you're dependent on the ability to have ground that (i) is suitable for sinking in a stake or anchor 8", and (ii) ground that will hold that. On my stand I've had those anchors pull up right out of the ground after a good rain.

You'll go a long long way towards reducing your dependence on the state of the ground if you could put a length of pole horizontally between the tops of your vertical poles. May not need your stake-out lines at all...

I'll repeat my post on the other thread here.

I take it that the "V' provides lateral stability.

Wouldn't added straps on the vertical poles work just as well?

As for stakes: investigate "disposable stakes". They can work very well. Xexorz started a thread on them here. Bury one 16" to 24".

Neat! Is there some means of adjustment for uneven ground?
