100+ Attendee Hang Organizers - Where Do You Go

PSH is growing every year - Fall Sprawl alone has seen a 50% growth this year (80 attendees last year, expecting to break 120 this year) and our membership increases have been fairly comparable to that. Next year, we'll be moving the event to another, bigger campground.

I'm starting to wonder, though - is it time to track down some private property for our hangs? Do National Parks frown on hosting big events?

There are permit issues but it is possible.

Also, when working with larger groups in the past, we have been able to arrange, via permit, access to areas not generally considered "group" areas, sometimes in Wildlife Management Areas. Events such as motorcycle enduros with well over 100 participants that involved, State, Federal and Private property. Lots of paperwork, fees for EMS type stuff, providing port a pots, emergency communication systems etc. and sometimes law enforcement support.

Part of the requirements have been an actual organization as opposed to individuals, must make the requests. At times there were insurance/liability considerations.

But yes, moving out of a State campground to a private property or using State/Federal land not normally used for camping/group public access, are indeed options. Just be prepared for the administrative and financial overhead.

Thus is the benefit of having an organized club with finances and administrative council.

That's exactly the type of information I was looking for, thank you very much!
