Most are made to hold moderately light weight items down and are not built for lateral forces to pull on them. Remember that the suspension angles are a compromise in using a vehicle rather than trees as hammock anchors....aka you are not likely going to be able to get a good 30° hang angle so your load forces on the anchors will be much much higher than we like on suspension systems. But it can be fun to find ways to be sure you Do Not Go To Ground!

    Great pictures!
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

Just back up to a tree or other anchor point.

I have used a tractor in the backyard for something like that at home.

If you have a four door car, open the front and rear doors on one side, wrap your strap around the "B pillar" and shut the doors. The pillar is an integral part of the car and "safety cafe" and will certainly withstand the pull from a hammock.

On my F-150 I just open the window a bit then open the door, wrap the strap around the top of the door frame, shut the door and presto instant anchor point. This however might be too much stress for a sedan or light weight SUV to be careful not to mess up your car.

I'd be worried about the weather stripping around doors and windows

I'd be more worried about having to otherwise sleep on the ground.

Oddly enough, never had a problem with the weather stripping or falling to the ground. YMMV of course. I have hung from a 2003 Highlander: B pillar and the roof rack corner without incident. On my F-150 hung from the door frame a few times and once when it was on the edge of a steep hill I hung from a tree to the corner bracket on the truck bed.

All the typical caveats apply....don't hang farther than willing to drop and all that jazz.
