Also, the Thunderbird only allows zipping from one side to the other - this looks like it can be zipped/unzipped from either end (no head/foot end any more?).

I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
their website description for the thunderbird says it has zippers on both sides so you can enter from the left or right.
My tbird zips on both sides, from what this looks like is another set of zippers so you can use both at the same time allowwing you to pick how much of an opening you want to vent the hammock yet still have bug protection.
Simple yet brilliant!!
Hats off to you again Papa Smurf, keep up the good work.
so if you're laying in the hammock, then you have to unzip the net first to get to the outer cover zipper for venting?
So it's also very similar to the Hammock Envy-S but in a nuanced updated sort of way.
Can the cover go on top? i.e. can they use either set of zipper teeth to attach. Or is it always net on top?
This is how I made mine. The cover to the inside. Mine doesn't come off or able to zip from both sides, but I always thought the cover would be better zipped from the inside of the net. The 2 reasons for using the cover ( privacy or warmth) I figure would be needed when you are already inside the hammock. I designed mine to have the net permanently attached to the head and the cover to the foot.
As always DreamHammocks makes a premium product. Good job Randy and DH crew.
Very cool when is it available?
The first couple builds will be making their rounds at some upcoming hangs. We'll take what we learn from these hangs and feedback from our DH testing crew for final changes to the design. I'd like to have the design set and ready to build in November.
Speaking of the DH Testing Crew... If you happen to run across somebody wearing a shirt like this, they're probably hanging in something cool. Go check their hammock out.
