    SilPoly Cat Cut Tarp

So I've decided to hang up my thread injector for a while. I've been on quite a DIY kick despite my wife's objections. My last project was a very slight cat cut hex tarp using 2nd gen SilPoly.

I decided to give a grosgrain ridgeline a try using the colored grosgrain Dutch just started selling.

If only someone would start selling 3/4" colored grosgrain.

The end result was great by my liberal standards. It's honestly the best I've ever made.

I strung it up, climbed into the pumpkin hammock underneath and noticed it. The issue. The only issue. I cried. Going down the middle of the fabric on either side of the tarp at 12" increments were 1/8" holes. They were nicely evenly spaced.

So....anyone have any thoughts on patching a couple dozen holes on a brand spankin new tarp? I really don't want to call it a complete loss.

String the tarp up nice and taut. Put a piece of tape on the outside of the fabric covering a hole, then on the inside of the fabric, cover the hole and the fabric surrounding the hole with seam sealant. After the sealant is dry, remove the tape. This method works for smaller holes, but not sure about ones that large.

Interesting. Where did the holes come from?

The spacing and straight line make me think something poked it when it was still rolled up.

I'm not sure. I emailed Kyle about it. He's not sure either. He said it wasn't on the rest of the roll, but as a nod to his awesome customer service he offered a refund for that bit of material. Sadly, taping and sealing it didn't work. It was successful on a few of the holes, but a coupe of them were just too large. Looks like it'll be tenacious tattoos until I can get around to getting more fabric to make another.

    Tenacious Tattoos.... lol!
You can always just get creative with the TT cutouts.

And... useful beats looks hands-down. BFD if you're dry.

Use scrap material and seam sealer and glue patches on. Will work perfectly, I've done it more than once.

Make sure to use a credit card like object to fully wet out the sealer to the edges, and wipe up the excess.
