Now I get it! Sorry for the confusion

Try this. Attach the webbing through the channel of the webbing like the stock suspension came, use a bowline as the knot.

Then use either the Four Wrap Knot, The Improved Four Wrap Knot or the Round turn with two half hitches (you can also just use one half hitch in this case as the turns take the load); you can finish either one of these slippery.

Using these two hitches will prevent the knot/hitch from binding and will be very easy to untie.

Thanks I'll try this knots. Mainly I just want to use as little hardware as possible and all I have now is some webbing so I can't really experiment with amsteel and marlin hitches.

On the speer knot do all 4 wraps follow the same direction? It hard to tell from the picture.

Nope, each one goes the other direction of the last one. IOW, you wrap around the hammock line, then back around the tree until you get to the hammock line again; then you go around the hammock line, then back around the tree until you get to the hammock line again...

Do it at least four times.
