ATTN: Cascade Hangers! Yeti Hang thoughts?

We have not thrown any posts as of yet for our Annual Yeti Hang? Wondering if anyone was thinking about it.
Last year we talked about perhaps waiting till later in the winter.. say February or March?
    Thoughts?
Consider Frog Lake again.. it seems to be the perfect hang site for many reasons.

    Hangin' in there!

If the hang is at Frog Lake, it would be kind of nice to do it February during the time snowmobiles are banned.

How about a different location this year? Maybe someplace closer to the Bend/Sisters area? Lots of great places down this way.

I vote that we wait for the snow.

Looking at the historical data (although who knows how much bearing that will have in the near future...), the peak snow depth on Mt. Hood is at the end of March.

Regardless of the Yeti Group Hang, I am up for more Winter Stuff with Snow. To that end I have started on my Pulk, based on Gary_R's design of course. My plan is to park my Camper trailer at White Pass on 12 as a bail out emergency option, and walk in on the PCT. I will post on another thread in the West when the time comes.

Sadly I think the snow will only be at elevation this year, I expect this year to be worse than last.

Might still but you might lose a few regulars that come from the north adding a few more hours to their trip in the winter. The passes can be hairy some winters, I-5 and 26 are always well maintained.

97's pretty well maintained also, and it goes right through Bend. I'd go for March as well. Over snow travel should be easy by that time. Any "closed" campground that has open bathrooms will also be a large plus, AND, no need for coolers for the beer

Good to know about HWY 97 have not traveled it in the winter.

To me the bigger issue is that going to Bend would add about 2 more hours of winter travel time for 90% of people that have been going since the beginning. Nothing comes across as more central than Mt Hood to the masses. The other larger issue is finding a site that provides all the bonuses that frog lake does. We have done many trips looking for one without any luck to date. There may well be many great locations out there but no one has located it, or they require more effort/gear to get to than many are capable of.
