Down shift can be an advantage in a hammock quilt i.e. the HG, you can shake the loft to the top of the quilt where it does the most good.

Keep in mind that staying warm is about more than just the insulation; proper UQ adjustment, eating before bedtime, head coverings, loose fitting socks, etc., etc. all contribute quite a bit.

I'm sure either will make an excellent quilt for you, just mind the small details as well.

The difference between duck down and goose down from an insulation perspective would be zero. It is all about the amount of loft or fill power of the down. Which bird the down came from is of no consequence, IMHO. Also in your comparison be sure to know if both manufacturers are using water resistant down or not. If one vendor is and the other is not, then I would choose the vendor that does use the water repellent down. It is worth the cost difference.

    Cheers

I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. I look forward to how warm you'll be this winter.

are you sure it's goose down? on their product ordering page for the ghost pepper, i don't see any mention of goose, it still mentions duck down.

Yes, George is getting goose down in today and will have it available as a substitute, he just hasn't added it to his website yet.

I got here late but I think you will be happy with your choice. I have HG, LL and EE gear and they are all great products but I am admittedly biased towards George because I did business with him long before he got into the quilting game and he proved to be a class act all the way round and even though we have never met it always feels like I am doing business with a friend.

No experience with the ghost pepper, but love my 0 degree burrow. Only complaint I had with that was it is too hot!

I can't tell, but are the Ghost Pepper quilts baffle box or sewn through construction?
