I use the metal plates (galvanized I think) that are used in making trusses / rafters in building construction. Cut to fit the bottom of my boots, (more or less) and held in place there using old one-inch webbing straps "figure 8" up across meta-tarsals, around ankle, and then tied / clipped. They are cheap, work for a while, (until the sharp pointy bottoms get hammered flat). Light weight, cheap and easily replaced.

I'm just getting into the winter hang scene, I've ordered some cold weather gear from hammock gear and a few others and I'd love the chance to try it out(if I receive it all in time).I'm following the thread and will know more as time goes on. Sounds like a good time and looks like there is a good number of people inteested. I'll watch for any updates. Thanks in advance.

Heyo! I'm in for this hang. Can arrive Saturday morning and stay the night. Looking forward to sitting around an oak wood fire with good company. Following this thread; will chime in as needed and when I figure out what I'll bring for food share.

    Thanks for hosting, Tumbleweed!

Novice hanger here. Live in Seattle. Back in Central WI visiting family. I would love to stop by on Saturday and see how the pros hang.

Yo, Greenhorn...and any other fencepost sitters,
Test out your winter gear / skills, with a safe "back up" plan already in place.
132 acres, High ground, hardwoods, piney woods, hayfield, springs, trails. so have enough room for ya'all. Hope to see you there. T

Can't wait! Just trying to figure out what I can contribute food and drink wise. I'd like to come up with something on the creative side. I was thinking maybe some Swedish glögg on the drink side. I'll see what I can come up with on the food side. Just to clarify we're still set for Dec. 4-5-6 weekend? Sure hope there is snow by then. Either way I'm sure it will be a blast!

I was on the fence at first, but now that I've got my winter gear I'm in! Headed to the woods tomorrow to give it a try, and make any changes to my base weight. I'd really like to contribute something to the weekend to help out. Tumbleweed: if you could let us know as the date approaches what's still needed that'd be great. Otherwise, of the folks planing on attending, if anyone has any ideas for meals, drinks, or pastime activities, throw'em out there. I'm looking forward to this as I'm sure you all are!

    December 4,5,6, 2015 confirmed!
Maybe someone could give this thread a spreadsheet like the one for the Frozen Butt Hang. Then individuals could see any planning / food / activity gaps. I'm sure it would be useful. I am not sure of how they make the spreadsheet.
