My friends and I are looking to go on an overnight car camp near Dallas. Our normal spot of Murrell Park is closed still, so anyone have a good spot?

Fairfield and Tyler state parks have some good car camping sites. Cedar Hill is still closed last I looked so those are the closest options.
I know Isle du bois up on Lake ray Roberts is open for day use, I'm not sure what the camping status is.
Here's a tool I didn't know about until just recently that shows state parks in the DFW area. You may have already checked these out but if not, it may be worth a look. It's both a map and phone list so a handy resource.
+1 on the Tyler State Park and Fairfield Lake SP suggestions. Both are great places for car camping. There's also some good options at Dinosaur Valley SP and Eisenhower too. Are all hanging? If so, I'd tip the balance of the scale to Fairfield. If some are on the ground and just 1 or 2 hanging, any of the above should be good for you.

Yes all will be hanging. I will look into Fairfield. I've been to Dinosaur Valley SP before but only on the back country trails and that might be too far of a drive for us.

Fairfield is the place we have our annual fall Texas Hang and it's very accommodating for hammocks. My first preference there is Springfield, the water only area although the other loops have good trees for hanging as well. Tell Kris at the front desk Uncle Mike say's hi.
If you have "pick of the liter" on sites, there's plenty of space for three at many sites but I'd go for 23, 26, 32, 34, 35, 36, 13, 14, 9, 8, 7, or 3. Other sites work too but those are the simplest for multi hangs of 3 or more IIRC.

I can put you on some private property 28 acres heavly treed in Kaufman.
There is mineral wells state park, or fort Richardson State Park over in jacksboro, tx. I was at mineral wells just last weekend, and it's alright. Went with a friend and hiked to primitive camp. There were only a few trees at "A", but there might be more if you go to the other area (no denotation of "B", but the entire other trail is just that). If dinosaur valley is too far, then Fairfield surely is as well. I haven't checked fort Richardson out yet, so I can't really help you on their tree situation.

I live in Cleburne. Cleburne State Park campground sites are great for hammocking. Almost every site has multiple hang points. Sites are close together and usually full on a nice weekend but I usually go during the week and there is hardly anyone there. Tawakoni and Ray Roberts State Parks have some good hanging sites too.
