    Snakeskins for winter tarp

I believe this has already been talked about, but I'm unable to find the past threads.

I have an 10x11 OES winter trap and i'd like to add snakeskins. At this size, are these a custom job? Does anyone here make snakeskins? .... I don't have a seeing machine unfortunately. Maybe I can simply buy the largest Hennesy set?

    Thanks for you help.

I have a 10x12 sportsmans guide tarp - which is heavier than the OES, and it fits nicely within a Hennessy #4 snakeskin.

What are the benefits of a skinned tarp?
I've never seen a need/desire and I would think you'd just have a wet tarp every time you set it up after being rolled up in a waterproof carrier all day.

Well, I'm not really qualified to answer since I just stuck my Macat DLX in skins for the first time last week (#4) and haven't used it yet. Just Jeff has posted he likes a "skinned" tarp so he can tie it in place skinned and view the stars, if inclement weather ensues it's a lot faster to deploy than digging in a pack at midnight. TeeDee has opined that, in a high wind, tarp set up is MUCH easier, They convinced me to try them. In theory a tarp with a dry underside should stay that way after you put the skins on, we'll see.

I've often had an internal debate about skins on tarps, over all I think they have accrued enough pros for me to eventually purchase them. I hadn't realized that #4s would fit a tarp that large so I may place an order for them. I'm not sure I will fully understand the pros and cons to skins until I start using them. I do think the main benefit would be set up windy conditions.

I like to be able to string the tarp and leave it skinned on days when I want maximum ventilation. It is quick enough to jump up and stake it out if I need to. I don't care for the black bishop bag or the dual ended stuff sack. Just a bersonal observation. What ever floats your boat.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
