Mara 70 7000m cone

I ordered 7000m of Mara 70 not realising how much that was. It's on what looks like a cone shaped spool (there's no base to the cone like industrial comes I've seen before)

Does it need to be lifted off vertically or spun off like a normal spool

My guess is that you're gonna want one of THESE.

According to my conversations with a Gutermann rep, it is acceptable to pull Mara off the spool either way.

However, with a larger spool, I suspect that with home setups, trying to pull it from the side will likely result in uneven thread tension. I would stick with pulling it off the end.

You can fabricate a thread stand with a coat hanger and a peice of wood. It just needs to be higher than where it feeds into your machine.
