WI - Blue Hills section of the Ice Age Trail

So, I've searched through the forum pretty well and couldn't find much info about this section of the IAT.

Hoping to do a trip on the 22 mi section, and was hoping someone would have some pointers or information regarding campsites and shuttle services. Also, what views I might be treated to there.

I'm planning to order the atlas, but thought I'd check in with my fellow hammockers for additional info!

    Thanks in advance!

I can try to help you. I have the atlas, but am not finding a blue hills segment. Perhaps some more detail where about that is and I can find the segment in the atlas to assist.

Are you looking at the section from Birchwood to Weyerhaeuser? I grew up in that area, but have never hiked that trail. I still have family in that area. There is not much for shuttle service, but I might be able to get someone to help you out.
Your going to see lots and lots of trees!! Primarily Maple and oak with a few remaining white pine. That area was logged very heavily in the late 1800's for the pine. Lots of small rock formations, like glacier erratic but smaller.

I was looking at the section on this page labeled Blue Hills. Clicking on the link, I think it's comprised of several smaller trails.

I found it. I can't say much for a shuttle service either. According to the maps/atlas its pretty much all primitive camping. Some services in Weyerhaeuser maybe. I'll PM you what I have on that.

Murphy dam is the only campground in that area. The rest would have to be dispersed camping. On the north end of that section your between Mikana and Birchwood. There are some services there, and a county campground on Red Cedar Lake. Southern end you'll be hard pressed to find anything more than a bar.
What time of year are you looking to do this?

Never hiked it myself. From what I know of the general area there should be moderate hills, plenty of water and foliage nearing peak about now. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
