DIY Climashield UQ diff cut?

I've sewn a few Climashield under quilts earlier this year out of 3.6oz Climashield and didn't worry about diff cuts in the shell since I wasn't trying to use them in very cold weather. Now I'm looking to sew up a 7.5oz under quilt for my son and am wondering if I should diff cut the shell to reduce compression, or skip it?

I noticed that AHE states on their website that their under quilts are reversible so I'm guessing Paul doesn't diff cut his quilts. Does anyone else bother with a diff cut, or should I not really worry about it?

I diff cut mine and feel it makes a positive difference. But. . . . YMMV

yes diff cut is the way to go. A few extra steps now make a big difference later on.

I've made a few out of 5.0 and haven't done a diff cut. So far I've been into the low 40s high 30s and have been very warm with just sweatpants and a t-shirt. I have no fear I'll get to the mid 20s.

I did not use a diff cut on the two I made. Might have to on the next one.

Ok, so next question then. In order to make the diff cut, are you just simply cutting the bottom layer a little bit bigger than the inside layer and folding/darting the corners?

I've never done a diff cut but will do one on my new 6oz csuq, and will pleat the corners as you describe. I suppose you can do them along the sides but that is a bigger pain and doesn't look as neat.

Does anyone one have some plans/pictures for a Climashield UQ? Would like to see them. Looking to DIY one and trying to decide between Climashield adn Insultex. Any info or thoughts would be great.
