If you don't use Snake Skins for the hammock, do you just stuff it in the storage bag and is the bag that much more lighter than snake skins?

It's not so much lighter for me as it is convenience. I don't mind dealing with an 11 foot "snake" for the tarp because the snakeskins are really help with tarp deployment but when it comes to the hammock, I'd rather deal with it in a sack. I used double ended stuff sacks for my main hammocks so they are not hard to pack away. Just leave one end attatched to one tree and pack the hammock into the sack as you walk from one tree to the other. Delpoying is the same in reverse.

I use regular snake skins for my hammock and some Wilderness Logic mesh skins for my tarp. If I have both strung it keeps my hammock out of the way while I monkey around under the tarp. The mesh skins weigh next to nothing and help the tarp dry out.

We have 5 Hennesseys, and all the tarps are on separate ridgelines. I like the flexibility of it this way. I also keep the hammock and tarp in separate snakeskins. Up here in the boreal forest, there is very often sap on the ground. I like having it on the snakeskins, instead of the hammock.

Hey Bubba, I've seen the double ended stuff sacks and I'm thinking you have a point about using the snake skins for the tarp and a double ended stuff sack for the hammock. I'm just thinking about the space in my pack if you start having a different sacks, skins and quilts and all the other odds and ends people tell me I need. I'm starting to get as much room taken up and as much weight as a tent that I'm looking to alleviate.

Even back in 2009 Tom was hanging the fly separately. Interesting is the use of a ridgeline. I've started just hanging my Hennessy stock tarp from just the o-rings and figure-9 carabiners on either side using the line that's attached to the tarp and not a line running under/over the tarp. Food for thought I guess.

By the way, dmwebb, how do you like the Monsoon? I'm debating between that and the Hex. Was leaning toward the Monsoon until I saw the Hex on sale for $50 in the October odds and ends. That might just swing my vote
