About two months ago, out of the blue, my wife asked me if I wanted to go on a canoe trip in October. We looked at dates and got the OK from my parents to leave the kids with them and planned it for the Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian). We tossed around a lake system nearby, and Quetico, but eventually Quetico won out. I'm glad it did. I got to test out some new equipment (UGQ Zeppelin Long 20*, DIY underquilt protectors, and the new mods to my tarp) as well as return to a park I haven't canoed in in over 25 years. I shrunk down a few of the pics, and am working on a video trip report as well, so stay tuned for that.
The weather was beautiful. We hit a high of over 24C on the one day, the last night was about 1C. The rest of the nights were pretty warm. The fall colours were amazing and the sunsets were just insane. Saw a ton of birds (3 eagles flew over our heads at tree level, loons, mergansers serenading us, whickeyjacks, blue jays, juncos, and grouse). Saw moose tracks, but no moose in the park itself, and lots of squirrels. A mouse also moved into our jeep while were gone. Made a nice little nest in our kleenex box. My wife has told everyone "Best trip ever!". We will be back with the kids, hopefully with a new canoe as well. Enjoy!

Chilling in the rain under the porch. We only had rain one day and it was intermittent.

This was our last night on a pine covered island. It was our favourite spot. Absolutely beautiful.
