Cool My new Ghost Pepper, "The Beast".

A huge thanks to George at Loco Libre Gear for making this quilt to my requested specs.

0° Ghost Pepper, no taper w/insulated foot box
850 Fill HyperDRY Goose Down with 2oz over stuff in the foot box.
    72" long and 55" wide
Multicam 1.1 (I believe) and Saddle Brown Argon 67.
    28oz.

I have an Incubator 20° but still needed a top quilt. Since I was familiar with Hammock Gear's super high quality quilts, I narrowed my choice down to a Burrow or Ghost Pepper and through another thread here, both quilts received high praise. I usually stick with one brand of whatever, afraid to venture out and possibly be disappointed. Both quilts were very similar in design and price point but George's Chevron pattern was very appealing to me and made sense as designed. This time I did venture and chose the Ghost Pepper (GP).

For those of you that have top quilts, you already know this. For those that have not yet tried a top quilt and are still using sleeping bags, TRY A TOP QUILT! Every aspect was so much better than a sleeping bag. The freedom of movement and ease of re-entry after getting up in the middle of the night cannot be matched with a sleeping bag.

I really, really enjoyed using this quilt. The GP is so incredibly comfortable and I love the no taper option as my feet have as much room as they did in my Big Agnes Lost Ranger, (one of my apprehensions was too tight of a foot box as I've never even slipped into a top quilt from any company). Fit and finish are top notch and are comparable to my Incubator, I can't imagine the extra time it took to create the Chevron baffles. I ordered the "wide" for going to ground, using on my bed or getting all cozy on the couch in the Winter. Even with the extra width, the sides tuck in nicely creating an air tight seal.

So far I have three nights with my GP, two of which were in the 30s. I slept in a t-shirt, cotton shorts, and socks and was nice and toasty all night. "Yeah it's a zero quilt, you should have been warm", you say. Well, I'm a severe weather weenie little sissy boy and I would have froze in my Big Agnes Lost Ranger (a 15° 650 fill down bag) wearing those skimpy garments. I know the burrow is an excellent TQ and was first on my list until I saw the GP, I'm very happy with my decision. Again, great work George, thanks again.

And now for the pics (just removed from the large cotton storage sack so it's not even at full loft).
