LOL! That is how my desk at work is organized! It actually works better than it sounds like it should!

I used to use Ziplocs but i switched to silnylon dry bags after a few times of finding out that the Ziploc had opened and everything got wet. Other than that i store everything in the packs and on my bike. my packs are made of heavy nylon mesh rather than ripstop or a drybag because i keep things sorted and stored in the silnylon dry bags, ready to go. I don't need the packs themselves to be water tight so i go for light weight. As others say quilts/sleeping bags stored separate and lofted when not packed up

I have my topquilt and underquilt in laundry bags and them and my pillow is hanging from the rod in my closest. The hammocks, suspension, tarp and other stuff is hanging from hooks screwed into the wall. Above the hooks is what's in the bag. I keep my backpack on the floor and walking poles and the quilt bags hanging on the inside of the closest door.

I put my down gear in pillow cases and keep them in 18 gallon totes with lids. I think the clear plastic storage shelves would be a great idea as well.

We just finished our gear storage. We got some racks from Hudson Trail Outfitters as they were going out of business. More to come on the awesome build. But here is a nice teaser.

Quilts hang behind bed room door vertically. Current use items go in specified tote (current go to cook set, hammock, bug net etc.) This is a constantly changing system depending on the season and weather.Clothing are on hangers in closet to chose the best combination for given outing. There are six other totes with misc.things all needed at one time or another. It is amazing how much stuff you accumulate on your quest for the perfect kit!
