new product (to me) maybe of some interest

    http://www.40below.com/product_detai...?ProductID=610

    TENT FLOOR FOAM:

Tent Floor Foam is a thin, lightweight closed cell foam that makes a nice insulated floor base in tents. Used to line the inside floor of tent, especially for long cold weather trips.

Provides a cushion and a base insulation inside the tent. Cut to fit the shape of the inside of your tent.

This is a good foam for doing make it yourself projects that need thin insulation.

    Made in USA!

    Measures: 1/8” x 36” x 80”

    Weight: 8 ounces per sheet.

    Separate shipping applies.

    $14.95 a sheet

I'd seen 1/4inch before but never 1/8 inch.

I should have said I'd never seen 1/8 in that width, Gossamer Gear sells it to but it is:
19.5 x 59 x 1/8 in and def. not wide enough for hangers usually.
I think they are all Copolymer Polyolefin foam aren't they?
I'm thinking for those of us who carry a pad on the back of the pack (think Mariposa and GVP-4) you've not only a sit pad/changing pad/gear sorting pad but also a big go to ground pad and a temp enhancer in the hammock because the 1/8 is surely flexible...the downside will be fragility.
I ordered one anyway so I'll let you know the thoughts after it gets here...and at home it's 22F so can do some real world with it too.

This sounds promising as I really need to re-think my sleeping system after last weekend's failfest at 40* and cannot afford a super sweet underquilt.

Pad received from 'Forty Below Ltd'...specs on LxW were accurate 36x80 inch and 1/8 inch thick.
I weighed it without any cutting or trimming and it weighs 9 ounces.
    Price was $14.95.
    Shipping was $7.00 Graham,Wa to Johnson City,TN
As it is it will fit as a pad in backpacks like a Gossamer Gear Mariposa but at this size you might fiddle with the folding a bit until you get crease lines that will guide you.
Material is ccf and feels tough for what it is. At first I thought there was a plastic coating but now I don't think so.
To trim or not. I'm waiting for a JRB Bridge Hammock and it will have to be trimmed for use in the double bottom, it would have to be trimmed for use in a double bottom BlackBird too. I think I'll trim for the BMBH first.
Also I'm thinking with only one opening in the BMBH double bottom it might be hard to get the pad in all the way and centered without creases without assistance; might just be a fiddle factor.
Might be next week before I can trim; will post weight after trimming for the bridge hammmock.
So far the good is that a pad this large can fold up for sit pad or backpack back.
The most important question is how many degrees will 1/8 inch give you?
In its shipped size it would be a perfect go-to-ground pad and I'll keep that in mind while making frugal cuts.

    This sounds interesting!

Any chance you can post some detailed pics of the material, please?

OK here is the pad in the living room...had just set up a bow so it's on the pad for reference. I used the pad this weekend with the BMBH and a Mt.Washingont UQ..I don't know if I've got MW3 or 4? but with the pad it was a non issue anyway because it only got to 36F

This has me asking the question; has anyone ever cut a CCF pad to fit the entirety of the pocket on a double layer BB? Any downside besides additional weight? Bunching?

bunching is the key/pain in a gathered end...with the Bridge it is muchmuchmuch less so, inconsequential at least...and the beauty of even such a thin piece of ccf-can be folded down for packing and has so many other uses;;;i always think of the thickness of a foam coffee cup and its thermal resistance....when i was trimming i was on cold concrete car port and felt nothing through it even after sitting on it for 10 minutes-incredible stuff..i've got a double bottom WB and might play with it in between layers when i get time
