Thats an interesting way to do it... I use the hennessy Hex tarp, and there's a pocket in each corner for the lines. I roll them up and stuff them in the pockets. The I slide the ends together so its hanging from the middle of my continuous ridge line. I stuff the thing into the sack, clip the sack to the line, let the line down from one end, rolling the line up. Then I take the sack to the other end and roll that line up. Last, I remove my tarp tree straps.
nice video! I was playing around with my tarp today and was trying to figure out a good way to put it away. Thanks!
Thanks for taking time to film this.
Nice video. Even better ideas!
I'll have to give this a try, first with my hex tarp then maybe the SuperFly. I'm a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy. I use skins then wrangle the whole mess into a big wad and put it into a stuff sack. I don't remember exactly how my system evolved but that's where it's at.
For speed of deployment and easy access, the tarp lives in the outside pocket of my pack. The skins are pretty much redundant. I've got a bunch of cord-locks left over from a recent project. I'm short on shock cord but I've got plenty of reflective stuff. Maybe I'll skip the elastic and just use straight cord to tie up the tarp, then into the stuff sack.
I still hank/bundle my cords on the corners even though I still roll the tarp in a similar fashion before they go into the skins. Do you find any problems with them tangling from not being hanked?
Great video....
Well thanks for the compliments, and yeah you would think my cords would be a mess when I unroll the tarp but (knock on wood) they just fall right back out each and every time. The big thing I noticed with this method over using snake skins is that the tarp will squish into the stuff sack better letting take what every shape it needs to inside my pack.

I like it! I think I'll try not rolling up each length of cord next time. Even if it does tangle, it shouldn't be that bad.
Just wanted to add another "thank you" for your video. It works great in practice for me!
And I referenced you in this thread:
