consensus on patching before a run/weave anomaly turns into a tear?

I'm looking for advice on what to use to prevent a run/anomoly in my ENO Sub7 hammock material from becoming a tear. I've heard good things about gear-aid but am wondering if people have other recommendations on a good patch to reinforce the weakening area.

    Thanks

    Some guesses in no order:
Use hammock to failure--which might not happen before something else happens.
    Buy a new hammock.
Sew a patch on the underside.
If a glue that is flexible and holds can be found--glue a fabric patch to underside of hammock. Or just glue the fabric on underside of hammock with no patch.
If it was me--I'd get a new hammock. Good luck aero-hiker.

Any chance it can be returned? Sounds like a manufacturing defect.

I've used Tear-Aid typ A to fix a small hole in my DD superlight hammock. It works very well.

I'm a firm believer in tenacious tape. I had three good size holes put in my hammock from my dog during a trip and I patched them with the tape and it's held all season and lots of nights spent in it. I imagine it would be plenty good for a run in the fabric.

Hmmm, I was thinking about that myself. It's an ENO Sub7 that I bought at REI. I don't have the receipt anymore, and there is a decent chance that I damaged the fabric getting in and out; it's a very light weight ripstop nylon. It is mostly just to test with, but I actually find it more comfortable than my ENO DN.

Does anyone know what REI's return policy is on stuff like this? Would it even be an option without the receipt?

REI is terrific on returns. Don't think you need the receipt but not sure. If you bought it using your member number, then there's absolutely no doubt they'll take it back. From your original description, it sure sounded like a flaw in the cloth...
