Strapworks Seatbelt Webbings Weights for Gram Counters

I recently have been expirimenting with various widths and colors of Strapworks seatbelt webbing. I thought some of you may be interested in these actual weights:

1.5 inch Red: 9.73 grams per foot.
1 inch Pink (yes, pink): 4.54 grams per foot.
1 inch Navy: 3.54 grams per foot.

Strapworks lists the Navy as "thinner weave" and, as you can see, it is extremely light. I was a bit apprehensive of the Navy, but hung for about an hour with it today, and it supported my 185 pounds. In that short time, I detected minimal stretch.

I used it in a whoopie and strap combo. The Navy straps are 4-foot with 3-inch loops at each end. They weigh just 17 grams each.

I don't know what the breaking strength of these are and I am not endorsing their use. But I like them.

    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Has anyone else used the one inch Navy and survived?

p.s. Strapworks service is AMAZING. I don't know how they sew these up and get them here from Oregon in three days for about a buck-fiddy shipping.

p.p.s. A three inch loop requires an additional 5 inches of webbing. When you order loops, Strapworks will add in the additional fabric necessary. So 4-foot straps with three inch loops are, indeed, 4 feet long. Hope that makes sense.

Of course for the measly one gram per foot difference, the Pinks are nice and robust. Plus I can demonstrate my elan d' hammock.

I may be doing my gram to ounce conversion wrong but that looks like a lot less than angrysparrow's weight quote from another thread here:

    Strapworks 1" Seatbelt Polyester - 1.04oz/yd

Interesting, I was just considering which straps to order. I'm not afraid to try the blue. Remember, never hang higher than you are willing to fall.

Considerably. Perhaps Strapworks is using a different weight material, now.

The pink seems much more robust. It has 4 sections of the diagonal weave running the length of the strap (same as the 1.5 inch), whereas the Navy has only two sections of the weave. I'm assuming those diagonal sections either improve the strength or inhibit stretch.. Engineers?

The posted weight I gave is for their black polyester seatbelt webbing, measured myself. It works out to 9.8 grams/ft, which is almost the same as sulman's measure of the red.

are you speaking of the polyester or the polypropylene?
i just ordered the "lightweight polypropylene" and ive used it before with success. They say its 600# test.
