I recently have been expirimenting with various widths and colors of Strapworks seatbelt webbing. I thought some of you may be interested in these actual weights:
1.5 inch Red: 9.73 grams per foot.
1 inch Pink (yes, pink): 4.54 grams per foot.
1 inch Navy: 3.54 grams per foot.
Strapworks lists the Navy as "thinner weave" and, as you can see, it is extremely light. I was a bit apprehensive of the Navy, but hung for about an hour with it today, and it supported my 185 pounds. In that short time, I detected minimal stretch.
I used it in a whoopie and strap combo. The Navy straps are 4-foot with 3-inch loops at each end. They weigh just 17 grams each.
I don't know what the breaking strength of these are and I am not endorsing their use. But I like them.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Has anyone else used the one inch Navy and survived?
p.s. Strapworks service is AMAZING. I don't know how they sew these up and get them here from Oregon in three days for about a buck-fiddy shipping.
p.p.s. A three inch loop requires an additional 5 inches of webbing. When you order loops, Strapworks will add in the additional fabric necessary. So 4-foot straps with three inch loops are, indeed, 4 feet long. Hope that makes sense.
