IN - Tecumseh Trail - Camping Areas Help

Hello all. Can someone please help/confirm the camping locations on the Tecumseh Trail for me? I see from the info on the web these areas:
    • Miles 5-8 Back Country Camping Allowed
    • Mile 13.9 Fox Den Shelter
    • Mile 19.5 Indian-Plum Creek
    • Mile 30.2 Yellowwood Forest

Are these ABSOLUTELY the only places to camp on the trail? I'm trying to plan a hike and determine if we are going to thru hike this or not. The distances between some of these are pretty lengthy. My initial thought if that is the case would be to try this:

Day 1 - Hike 13.9 miles to camp near/at Fox Den.
Day 2 - Hike 16.3 miles to camp at Yellowwood Campground. (mile marker 30.2)
Day 3 - Hike 11.8 miles to finish.

I know this is not like the Knobstone, but give me some thoughts on this? Doable or not?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Curious about this myself. Did you get any additional information? 16 miles in a day doesn't leave much time for sightseeing. At least there isn't much elevation change.

Man, my home state sure makes it tough. Thus, I'm pretty much a wannabe Michigander.

From the guide, it says the longest distance between camp is 11 miles. I didn't look too hard though and may have missed something.

I spoke to several that have hiked this trail, while they prefer you camp in the camping area only. I was told the HHC turns a cheek if you don't. THIS information was NOT from the HHC but from several who have hiked the trail.
I have contacted the HHC and have yet to hear anything back from time. ( several weeks )
I will be hiking it the week between Christmas and New Year. should be a good time.
The only Easy day was yesterday.

I agree. I wish the IDNR published more information on their trails. Sure would help planning and driving people to our state.

The TT is I believe our newest LD trail with future plans to hook up with the KT via the Pioneer Trail, that runs through the nebo ridge "area" going south. A lot has been done, and it does seem to be about time for TT info to get an update. That being said, everything is still pretty much up to HHC and their volunteers.

The best info always comes from trail reports anyway. This looks like a great OP for HF members to contribute some much needed data. You guys TRs will be the most recent and up to date info out there and should provide much needed hep!

Always wanted to just start a hike, go till I am tired and ready to rest and then hang/camp. Definitely LNT of course and if a ranger or warden comes along just say, "look man, went as far as I could and it got dark, ran out of energy, whatever." Wonder what's the worst that could happen?

I saw a list, one time, of campsites with GPS locations, that had been "established" on the KT. It was noted, most if not all of them were not considered by the DNR as designated sites. These were cleared areas with fire rings, located in, for the most part, pretty nice and logical spots. That being said, I'm thinking while hiking the TT, you should be able to get away with stringing things up anywhere you aren't obviously venturing too far on to private property, as long as it's LNT, and dusk to dawn.

I've really never run into any DNR or HNF folks actually out in the woods, anywhere, outside of deer season, now that I think about it

If you haven't already taken a look. Scroll down a bit. The campsites don't appear to be too far apart.
