    Ok I'm a bit thick
So the advantage of 1.7 fabric is it breathes better and bears more weight.
(1)That being said is it colder ?
    (2) More wear resistance?
I was considering a double layer 1.7 but after reading this thread I may need to reconsider.
I weigh in at around 190 at 6' tall. I will be using this for the most part in Florida,
some times in the everglades where we have clouds of mosquitoes.
The humidity can get pretty high in the summer often in big drops for hours
In winter it gets COLD….I know but it’s a wet cold.
Which doubled fabric would be better in these conditions?
    Thanks everyone.

So ... how about 250# .. will the double layer 1.1 lay flat enough?

sometimes breathability is an advantage, sometimes wind resistence is an advantage. sometimes lightweight is an advantage, sometimes durability is. it just depends on your needs. in the everglades, i'd lean toward breathability if you'd consider treating with premethrin, folks here have had good sucess with it keeping the bugs off anything treated with it. if it works as good as some claim, then you could have breathability without worrying about bugs biting through.

Los Uno, is that the 1.7 single layer or double layer? I'm about 250ish, and would love to get something lighter than the 1.7 double layer if possible.

But IMHO the BB is great hammock. You may want to watch his videos on warbonnet web site...he has one for hanging, Yeti placement and even talks about the correct height for foot and center line taughtness...(is that a word)

    Noob hanger here....

Here I am, in the under 200# crowd, and I do mostly off-road motorcycle camping with occasional backpacking, so I'm not super concerned about hammock weight. I already know I want a double layer, 'cause I'll be needing to stick insulation in there, but even after reading all these threads, I'm still hanging on wondering about the 1.1. vs 1.7 fabric weight.

I figure the 1.7 weight willl be more durable, and maybe my partner and I can bundle up together for a nap once in a while,...and what's a few extra onces on a motorcycle, right?

Am I on the right track here, or is it overkill and the 1.1 will be just fine, and even be a bit lighter and pack up a bit smaller?
