Red face ViDEO: Shug Slogging Up North Minnesota

Winter looms. Spent the week repairing my deck. As I kneeled screwing deck screws I kept staring up at the sky and wanted a quick night in the Northwoods. It is deer hunting season so the Superior Hiking Trail is mostly closed. But there are a few places to go. Donned the orange colors and grabbed the AMOK Draumr 3.0 and some food and went up for a one nighter. It wqs cold, windy, rainy and got snow overnight.

Indeed, we got smacked by 11 inches over here in Iron River on thursday night. It has begun. I had to sleep out on the back 5 last night to enjoy the quiet and new perspective of the woods. As always thanks for taking us along, and glad you weren't mistaken for a deer. Braver than I, except for my own hunt, I won't go near a trail till the season is over

Thanks Shug. I always enjoy watching your videos.

I'm intrigued by that AMOK hammock and hoping they will come out with a version for taller folks as I'm close to the height limit. It will be interesting to see the lowest temperature people can comfortably use this hammock. It will probably vary on how warm or cold of a sleeper they are, what pad they use and how much wind there is. I can see how the wind may be a problem. It's good to know the bug net helped keep the wind and snow off you.

Im glad you are showing the Amok 3.0 and how well it can be used in cold weather camping. Ive got the same set up with the pad and it is so nice. And being able to sleep on your side is sweet too. Love those socks. Ill bet their extra warm coming from your daughter. Enjoy

Shug, you're a die hard, you won't seee out there. The woods are crawling with liquored-up hunters carrying high powered rifles. Nothing dangerous about that, right?
