Tested out my first DIY down underquilt this week and was very pleasantly supprised. I am now a complete down convert!
My goal was to make a 4 season 3/4 length underquilt. Currently I use a 0° bag as my winter top quilt, and since I wanted a 4 season underquilt I did not go to extream with the down. While the low was only 31° degrees I was so hot that I am confident to at least 20°, but only time, and the arival of winter, will tell.
Down was harvested from coats aquired at the Salvation Army. One of which i harvested over 5.5oz of 100% down for a whopping $8! The UQ is made from 0.9 oz illume15 from RipstopByTheRoll and the weight includes all the suspension.
