Unfortunately, we can't use this technique as we don't have access to the inside of the seam.

90% done a 3 layer underquilt with baffles running in opposite directions. based on this design (http://imgur.com/gallery/ABzWn). I am having trouble attaching the side pieces of the first quilt to the 2nd quilt that's just folded in half.
    Also:
50% done double layer topquilt. Based on this design (http://imgur.com/gallery/kOXYm) but double layered.

4 costco throws used. got two of them for christmas so my cost is less than $75 Canadian right now. I think the shock cord i used on the underquilt channel is too thick and heavy. Receipt says 3/16 inch or 5 mm but it seems much thicker than that.

Triple layer underquilt with horizontal and vertical baffles. I just need to figure out how to sew the side pieces onto the midsection. any suggestions?

Why not just sew it at the head and foot end? Then you can push the down away from the edge so it doesn't get caught in the stitching

The top is sewn through all three layers and the bottom is sew through 2 of the three layers to allow for a sleeping pad to be inserted. Despite this, the sides (between where quilt 1 is folded over 3x and quilt 2 is folded over twice), still has a very noticeable sag where the cold will creep in. I'm wondering if a few stitches on top of each baffle at 5" intervals just to keep everything in place would be adequate.
