Closing doors on winter tarps ideas?

I close my doors on my SLD Winter Haven by using a length of shock cord and a mitten hook to the opposite D ring.
I usually get a pretty generous gap in the middle though.
What do u guys do to close that gap?
I was thinking omni tape/velcro might be a good idea...

I don't have one, but I know you can reduce/eliminate the gap if you stake it in the ground leaving the doors at about a 25° angle, still overlapping. But I know it's nice and convenient to use the D rings. In that case, velcro would work. I remember Shug using it on one of his tarps; maybe it's the same one? I can't seem to find that video.

Funny, there was another thread today about using velcro. I used that shock cord on the stake connected to both door ends (drings on yours). I use one square of velcro in the middle to keep it closed, and offers easy in and out...

That's a good idea. I was focused on closing the entire length of the gap, which would be cumbersome. Your solution looks quick and effective.

I also have a SLD Winter Haven and just returned from a winter trip first time using doors. I staked one flap down static but staked the other flap using a mitten hook and shock cord. Easy to open one flap and pass through and I achieved a pretty tight seal.

If I am closing the doors, then I am in full storm set up. So, to close the doors, I just attached them to the same stakes as the "corners" of the tarp. The doors are nice and tight. I try to make sure that the door on the windward side overlaps the other door, so that there is no flapping or gaps. I do have shock cord on the door tie outs, so that there is enough give that I can push the doors open to exit.

I put a taught line on my door shock cords. This allows for me to go straight across for looser doors, down to the stakes for tighter doors or back for no doors. The shock cord holds the knot/hitch well and having it adjustable gives me that just right tension.

This will sound weird, but more often than not, I end up wrapping the doors at one end around the tree and use the tree as a windbreak and use the opposite end for entry. On the entry end i run a shock cord from one d ring through the other to a stake. When position into the wind, the tree-hugging end is remarkedly well sealed, and the other end is less critical.
God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools. --John Muir
