My wife and I went on a backpacking trip Friday and Saturday on the Ozark Highlands Trail. We started at White Rock Mt. Rec. Area and hiked to Lake Fort Smith SP. It was about 20 miles total, we had a group of 14. We split into 2 groups, one went to Lake FS SP to start and we meet in the middle to camp. They gave us their keys and we drove back to the starting area, that worked great, didn't have to shuffle. All but 3 in our group used hammocks, my wife and I used a new hammock setup that lets us both hang under one tarp next to each other (Dutch Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks). It was a great hike, a couple climbs and 3 creek crossings. We scared a group of turkey and they flew down the valley before we could take a picture. That was all the wild life we saw. Here are a few pics from the trip.
