    Thx Og

Lets compare notes: I got the .742 aluminum poles. 2 sections (17" each) for a total of 34" spread. I also go the shock cord tips. Is that what you used to make the bar?

I got 0.625 18" for total of 36", I didn't get shock cord tips but wish I had. Once it's in place it's not going anywhere but would be nice when keeping in pack. My wife is going to sew me a stuff sack for them.

Thats exactly why I went with .742, because the .742 has the option to get the shock cord tips. The pole diameter is a bit bigger but doesn't weigh much more. The ability to break-down the pole and pack it was worth the extra 3 grams to me. Since I have an ultra-light backpack, the pole actually helps provide additional support and stiffness between hip-belt and shoulder straps when I stick them in the pack close to my back.

I'll let you know how it works for us the next time we head out!

Great, I'd like to hear how they work out. One other thing for mine is one of the tips seems to be a little larger then the other because it is hard to get away from the double hook after a night in the hammocks. I guess it could be that the hole is slightly smaller on one of the hooks but in my hast to pack I haven't paid close enough attention to see which is causing the problem. I'll have to look at that before my next trip.

Great pics; were the orange pack covers for safety or were they what those folks normally pack?
