    I wasn't there when someone came up with 83%, but i think it's safe to assume that the 30* hang angle was found to be comfortable before SRL's were used and therefore 83% simply worked out to be the corresponding SRL length.

    Calculate 83% of the length between the points you will be connecting the SRL to.

    Honestly it's seems to be different for every individual. I say put it were u want and make it adjustable. I'm made a whoopie for my ridgeline.
