Another fella and I were talking about getting stuck in the parking lot up there. I told him this, the first year I drove my four-wheel-drive three-quarter ton up there, the parking lot was nicely plowed plus there were plenty of guys to help get me out. So last year I took my minivan to save gas.

I did get stuck in Indiana last winter because of Indiana's policy of never plowing a road that doesn't have a voter on it.

Michiganders complain (for good reason) about bad roads and potholes, but they sure clear them like no tomorrow. I'll give them A+++ for effort on that.

The East lot always seems to be cleared quite well. I got blasted with 1/4" ice, then lake effect snow with a strong NE wind last year. Probably my best winter trip yet.

This sounds like fun but is there any way to get info besides becoming a member of bushcraft?

There will be info right here also. It just that we don't discriminate against ground dwellers, so there will be tents as well as hammocks

And maybe people with neither tent nor hammock.

Sorry about the lack of info. I'm operating off a smart phone right now and it's a little tough to load stuff up. I think I'll post a link to last year's outing which is everything is just the same . Actually not much more information on Bush crafters anyway.

Here is link to camp of 2014 . Everything the same except we only hiked to Carp Lake instead of Byron lake . About half as far for us old timers .

On a related note, I haven't heard anything lately about the proposal to allow mountain biking at Hoist Lakes. I first found out about that in January.

I sure hope it doesn't happen. There are a lot more biking paths than foot travel areas already. Let's keep this one from taking a beating.
