Backpacking is definitely what we (my son) prefer to do. Occasionally we will do a car camp, but the right trees are sometime hard to find. I've had to go pick several sites and then go back to the ranger and see if they're available. What I would really like to try is bike touring. Been checking out cyclo-bikes that I can put a rack on. Good thing my wife bikes or she would think I am nuts buying a third bike. Now all I need is a bigger garage.

I haven't backpacked, yet. My personality is ill-suited to the notion of having to make "X" miles before sundown. My pace is too fast for deer hunting, but just barely.

Well being very new to hammock camping i don't have a preference yet. I ended up here because i wanted to start doing the odd bicycle tour and needed to upgrade my existing gear, enter hammocks, specifically BB DL 1.1. In the process of this whole thing i've started to think about backpacking trips and what has really come into view is kayak camping. We do have a few big awesome lakes with miles and miles of crown land and raw beaches so i'm going to trade in one of my bikes for a kayak. all in all i need allot of gear this year.

Backpacking is by far the most common way that I hit the woods with my hammock, but after two canoe trips in the Adirondacks with Zombie Squad, I have to say that I could be easily spoiled by the opulent options offered by the float trip.

I often use a variation of "car camping" called "Boy Scout camping". You get to bring your car, but you're going to large properties owned by the BSA. You get most of the benefits of managed wilderness, with some facilities nearby, but you don't have the general public crowds, noise, lights, or idiocy. Everyone is trained in "leave no trace", and that makes for nice piney woods.
I voted "canoe/kayak camping" for the poll, because hammocking in the BWCA is my all time favorite activity!

Kayak/canoe camping moslty even though sometimes it is driving the truck and kayak to a campground by a river or lake.
The only car camping I do is Hot Springs. The rest of the time its hiking or fly fishing.
